Shadow Ridge is a perfect 4-0 against Maryvale since March of 2021 and they'll have a chance to extend that dominance on Wednesday. The Stallions will head out on the road to take on the Panthers at 3:45 p.m. Both squads will be entering this one on the heels of a big victory.
Shadow Ridge will roll into the matchup after a wild two-game stretch: they didn't score any runs last Tuesday, then bounced right back against Valley Vista on Tuesday. The Stallions blew past the Monsoon 20-1.

Madilyn Gentner was incredible, going a perfect 3-for-3 with four stolen bases, three runs, and four RBI. Those four stolen bases gave her a new career-high. Destiny Johnston also deserves some recognition as she hit her first triple of the season.
They weren't the only ones making solid contact: Shadow Ridge kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 17 hits. They are a perfect 12-0 when they post 11 or more hits.
Meanwhile, it was a proper cat-fight when Maryvale duked it out with South Mountain on Tuesday. The Panthers put the hurt on the Jaguars with a sharp 9-3 win. The Panthers haven't had any issues with the Jaguars recently, as the game was their seventh consecutive victory against them.
Isabel Hernandez was a major factor no matter where she played. She struck out 17 batters over seven innings while giving up just one earned (and two unearned) runs off five hits (and only one walk). She has been consistent for a while: she hasn't tossed less than eight strikeouts any time she's pitched this season. She was also big at the plate, going 2-for-3 with one triple, two RBI, and one run.
In other batting news, Jaline Ortega and Marianna Jennings did most of the damage at the plate: Ortega went 1-for-3 with one home run and two runs, while Jennings went 2-for-4 with two doubles, one run, and one RBI. Another player making a difference was Ivette Hernandez Mojica, who went 3-for-4 with one stolen base, one run, and one double.
Shadow Ridge is on a roll lately: they've won four of their last five games. That's provided a nice bump to their 13-9-1 record this season. The wins came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 15.8 runs over those games. As for Maryvale, their record now sits at 10-7.
The pitchers for both teams better look sharp on Wednesday as neither team is afraid to steal. Shadow Ridge has been swiping bases left and right this season, having averaged 5.5 stolen bases per game. However, it's not like Maryvale struggles in that department as they've been averaging an even more impressive 5.6 stolen bases. The only question left is which team can snag more.
Shadow Ridge took their victory against Maryvale when the teams last played back in March of 2024 by a conclusive 14-2 score. The rematch might be a little tougher for the Stallions since the squad won't have the home-field advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
