Shade has gone a perfect 10-0 against Turkeyfoot Valley Area recently and they'll look to pad the win column further on Monday. The Panthers will face off against the Rams at 4:30 p.m. Shade is strutting in with some hitting muscle as they've averaged 10 runs per game this season.
Wednesday just wasn't the day for Shade's offense. They lost 10-0 to Windber on Wednesday. The Panthers' loss signaled the end of their four-game winning streak.
Shade saw three different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Tori Bowers, who went 2-for-3 with one stolen base.
Meanwhile, Turkeyfoot Valley Area got the win against Shalom Christian Academy on Thursday by a conclusive 15-5. Considering the Rams have won five games by more than seven runs this season, Thursday's blowout was nothing new.
Kylie Nichols was a major factor no matter where she played. She looked comfortable on the mound, tossing three innings while giving up no earned runs off five hits. Nichols was also big at the plate, getting on base in two of her four plate appearances with two stolen bases, three runs, and one RBI.
In other pitching news, Shalom Christian Academy's batters probably weren't too happy with Rhylan Rugg, who pitched a no hitter and racked up six Ks (she gave up zero walks). Rugg has been nothing but reliable on the mound: she hasn't given up more than one walk any time she's pitched this season.
Back at the plate, Turkeyfoot Valley Area let Jessica Pepe and Eirean Walker run wild. Pepe got on base in all five of her plate appearances with two runs and one RBI, while Walker went 1-for-3 with three RBI, one stolen base, and one run. Those three RBI gave Walker a new career-high. The team also got some help courtesy of Laurel Vogel, who got on base in three of her four plate appearances with three runs and one RBI.
The win got Turkeyfoot Valley Area back to even at 7-7. As for Shade, their defeat dropped their record down to 9-4.
Turkeyfoot Valley Area's pitching crew has a crucial task ahead of them: Shade has been making plenty of contact this season, having averaged 11.4 hits per game. It's a different story for Turkeyfoot Valley Area, though, as they've been averaging 10.3 hits. Given Shade's sizable advantage in that area, the Rams will need to find a way to close that gap.
Shade was able to grind out a solid victory over Turkeyfoot Valley Area in their previous matchup on Tuesday, winning 9-6. The rematch might be a little tougher for the Panthers since the squad won't have the home-field advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
