Salem has gone a perfect 6-0 against Orleans recently and they'll look to pad the win column further on Friday. The Lions will be playing in front of their home fans against the Bulldogs at 5:00 p.m. The last three games Salem has played have been within two runs, so don't be surprised if it's a close one.
On Thursday, Salem didn't have quite enough to beat Switzerland County and fell 3-2. That's two games in a row now that the Lions have lost by just one run.
Meanwhile, there's no place like home for Orleans, who bounced back after a loss on the road on Tuesday. They came out on top against Crawford County by a score of 6-2 on Wednesday. The Bulldogs haven't had any issues with the Wolfpack recently, as the game was their fifth consecutive victory against them.
Kaden Berning made a splash while hitting and pitching. On the mound, he didn't allow a single earned run while striking out eight over seven innings pitched. Those eight strikeouts gave him a new career-high. He was also big at the plate, getting on base in all four of his plate appearances with two runs, one stolen base, and one double. He is on a roll when it comes to stolen bases, as he's now snagged at least one in each of the last three games he's played.
In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Dane Freed, who went 2-for-3 with two stolen bases, two RBI, and one run. That's the most RBI he has posted since back in April of 2024. Another player making a difference was Asher Robinson, who got on base in two of his three plate appearances with one run and one RBI.
Salem's defeat was their third straight on the road, which dropped their record down to 7-7-1. Those road losses can't be blamed on the team's pitching effort, having only surrendered 3.7 runs on average over those games. As for Orleans, the win was their first at home , bumping their record up to 5-11.
Salem took their victory against Orleans in their previous matchup back in May of 2024 by a conclusive 16-0 score. Do the Lions have another victory up their sleeve, or will the Bulldogs turn the tables on them? We'll have the answer soon enough.
