Stanton has enjoyed the comforts of home their last three games, but now they'll head out on the road. They will challenge the Nease Panthers at 6:00 p.m. on Friday. Both teams come into the game bolstered by wins in their previous matches.
Even though First Coast scored an imposing 60 points on Wednesday, Stanton still came out on top. Stanton skirted past First Coast 63-60. For those keeping track at home, that's the closest win Stanton has posted yet this season.
It was another big night for Gabrielle Fajardo, who scored 22 points. She continues to roll, besting her previous point total in each of the last four games she's played. The team also got some help courtesy of Catherine Brewer, who scored 14 points.
Meanwhile, even if it wasn't a dominant performance, Nease beat Creekside 55-49 on Thursday.
Nease's win was a true team effort, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was McKenna Owens, who scored 16 points along with seven steals and five rebounds. Shruthika Kondabrolu was another key contributor, scoring 13 points along with five rebounds and four steals.
Stanton's win bumped their record up to 7-9. As for Nease, they are on a roll lately: they've won four of their last five games, which provided a nice bump to their 12-10 record this season.
Stanton took a serious blow against Nease when the teams last played back in December of 2014, falling 71-24. The contest was all but decided by halftime, at which point Stanton was down 49-14.
