The Manville Mustangs will face off against the South Hunterdon Eagles at 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Manville is strutting in with some hitting muscle as they've averaged 6.7 runs per game this season.
Manville came into their game on Monday off a hard-fought close win, but unfortunately suffered a serious change of fortune. They came up short against Morristown-Beard, falling 15-5. The Mustangs haven't had much luck with the Crimson recently, as the team has come up short the last three times they've met.
Brandon Shimp was cooking despite his team's loss, going a perfect 2-for-2 with one home run and three RBI. That home run marked the first that he has launched this season. The team also got some help courtesy of Collin Shimp, who went 1-for-3 with one triple and one run.
Meanwhile, South Hunterdon came into Thursday's matchup having lost six straight, but that streak is now in the rearview. They sure made it a nail-biter, but they managed to escape with a 3-2 victory over Wallkill Valley on Thursday.
BRENDAN PACIULLI was excellent, going 1-for-2 with one run, one double, and one RBI.
Manville's loss dropped their record down to 5-7. As for South Hunterdon, their win bumped their record up to 5-6.
Manville's speedy runners might be the difference in Tuesday's game. The Mustangs have been swiping bases left and right this season, having averaged 4.3 stolen bases per game. It's a different story for South Hunterdon, though, as they've been averaging only 0.8 stolen bases. Will they be able to secure the bases, or will Manville continue to outrun the ball?
Manville got the 'W' when the teams last played back in April of 2025 against South Hunterdon by a conclusive 12-3 score. Will the Mustangs repeat their success, or do the Eagles have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
