Buchanan is 8-2 against Clovis East since October of 2015 and they'll have a chance to extend that dominance on Friday. The Bears will square off against the Timberwolves at 7:00 p.m. Buchanan will be strutting in after a victory while Clovis East will be coming in after a loss.
Buchanan gave up the first points on Friday, but they didn't give up any more after. They came out on top against Clovis North by a score of 30-20.

Buchanan's success was spearheaded by the efforts of Gannon Sever, who gained 196 total yards and two touchdowns, and Tommy Devany, who threw for 308 yards and two touchdowns. Devany's passing game has become a key predictor of the Bears' success: the team is undefeated when his passer rating is 100 or higher, but only 1-3 otherwise. 86 of Devany's passing yards were hauled in by Jaiden Anderson, who also brought in a receiving touchdown.
Buchanan was unstoppable on the ground and finished the game with 215 rushing yards. That's the most rushing yards they've posted since back in September of 2024.
Meanwhile, Clovis East entered their contest against Clovis on Friday without any home losses, but there's a first time for everything. The Timberwolves were outmatched by the Cougars and fell 42-15. While losing is never fun, the Timberwolves can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' California football rankings (they are ranked 92nd, while the Cougars are ranked 22nd).
Buchanan will need to focus on slowing down Marcellus Royal, one of several Clovis East players who made an impact when they last played. He picked up 136 receiving yards and one TD. The team also got some help courtesy of Jamie Spurgeon, who threw for 272 yards and a pair of touchdowns.
Even if they lost, Clovis East's defensive line still kept up the pressure with four sacks. Devin Woodard was especially locked on to Clovis' QB and sacked him twice.
Clovis East's defeat dropped their record down to 4-4. As for Buchanan, their win was their first in the league, bumping their league record up to 1-2 and their overall record up to 5-3.
Buchanan was dealt a bruising 42-11 loss at the hands of Clovis East when the teams last played back in October of 2024. That game was all but decided by halftime, at which point the Bears were down 28-5.
