In what's become a running theme this season, the Sulphur Bluff Bears gave their fans yet another huge win on Tuesday. They were the clear victor by a 66-43 margin over Union Hill. The win was familiar territory for Sulphur Bluff who now have five in a row.
Clint Degen was his usual excellent self, dropping a triple-double on 17 points, 13 rebounds, and ten assists. It was the first time this season that he posted eight or more assists. Matthew Overly was another key contributor, scoring 14 points along with six assists and two steals.
Despite the loss, Union Hill saw an underclassman step up: EJ Mowery scored 19 points. That was a full 44.2% of Union Hill's points, marking the fifth time in a row he's earned more than a third of the team's points. The team also got some help courtesy of Logan Dunn, who scored eight points.
Sulphur Bluff pushed their record up to 25-9 with that win, which was their seventh straight on the road. Those good results were due in large part to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 62.0 points per game. As for Union Hill, they have traveled a rocky road recently having lost nine of their last 12 matchups, which put a noticeable dent in their 9-12 record this season.
Coincidentally, Sulphur Bluff and Union Hill will both be playing Saltillo the next time they take the court. Union Hill will host Saltillo at 7:00 p.m. on Friday, while Sulphur Bluff will head out to face them at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday.
