The Temescal Canyon Titans will head out to square off against the West Valley Mustangs at 5:15 p.m. on Wednesday. West Valley took a loss in their last game and will be looking to turn the tables on Temescal Canyon, who comes in off a win.
Temescal Canyon had to skate by with only a one-set margin when they last took the court, which might have inspired the three-set drubbing they dealt Tahquitz on Friday. Temescal Canyon blew past Tahquitz 3-0. The win was familiar territory for Temescal Canyon, who have now won three contests in a row.
Temescal Canyon walked away with the victory (and looked especially good in the third set). Once all was said and done, the final score wound up at 25-18, 25-19, 25-4.
Meanwhile, West Valley came up short against San Jacinto on Wednesday, falling 3-0.
West Valley took the loss but they managed to make steady progress, increasing their score in every set they played. The match finished with set scores of 25-16, 25-19, 25-23.
Temescal Canyon will need to focus on slowing down Carlvin Valdez, one of several West Valley players who made an impact when they last played. He had 21 assists and seven digs. Valdez has been hot, having posted 16 or more assists the last eight times he's played. Another player making a difference was Nile Ledda, who had 17 digs.
Temescal Canyon's win was their third straight at home, which pushed their record up to 16-7. As for West Valley, they have been struggling recently as they've lost three of their last four matches. That's put a noticeable dent in their 8-11 record this season.
Temescal Canyon took their victory against West Valley in their previous matchup back in March by a conclusive 3-0 score. The rematch might be a little tougher for the Titans since the squad won't have the home-court advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
