Basketball Recap: Paradise Honors Skates Past Thunderbird with Ease

Paradise Honors had already won four in a row (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 48.8 points) and they went ahead and made it five on Wednesday. They claimed a resounding 60-12 win over the Thunderbird Titans. Given the Panthers' advantage in MaxPreps' Arizona basketball rankings (they are ranked 47th, while the Titans are ranked 157th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.

Paradise Honors' victory was a true team effort, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Morgan Van Dyke, who went 6 for 10 en route to 14 points along with seven steals and five assists. Van Dyke is crushing it when it comes to steals: she's grabbed at least two every time she's taken the court this season. Another player making a difference was Lizzy Guincho, who posted ten points in addition to eight rebounds and seven steals.

Paradise Honors smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with 24 offensive boards. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now pulled down at least nine offensive rebounds in seven consecutive contests.

Paradise Honors' win was their fifth straight on the road, which pushed their record up to 14-4. Those victories came thanks to their defensive effort, having only surrendered 19.6 points per game. As for Thunderbird, their defeat ended a three-game streak of wins at home and dropped them to 9-9.

Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Paradise Honors will face off against Goldwater at 5:30 p.m. on Tuesday. Paradise Honors is facing Goldwater at the right time seeing as Goldwater is stuck on an 11-game losing streak. As for Thunderbird, they will take on Greenway at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. Greenway will roll in looking for their sixth straight victory, something Thunderbird surely won't give up without a fight.
