The St. Joseph Falcons have been a dominant force so far, but they're in the middle of a mini-slump at the moment. They fell 63-53 to Elizabeth on Saturday. While losing is never fun, St. Joseph can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' New Jersey basketball rankings (they are ranked 56th, while Elizabeth is ranked seventh).
London Carson continued his habit of posting crazy stat lines for Elizabeth, dropping a double-double on 21 points and ten rebounds. Carson is on a roll when it comes to points, as he's now scored 15 or more in the last seven games he's played. Another player making a difference was Jayden Johnson, who scored 13 points along with two steals.
St. Joseph has been struggling recently, as they've lost three of their last four games, which put a noticeable dent in their 10-5 record this season. As for Elizabeth, the win (which was their sixth in a row) raised their record to 11-2.
St. Joseph won't have much time to rest: their next contest is against Weequahic at 2:30 p.m. on January 21st. Hopefully Weequahic focused on turnovers this week since the team gave up 15 on Saturday. As for Elizabeth, they will be playing at home against Union at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday.
