Radford had lost four straight at home, but on Tuesday they dropped down to 2-9 to make it five. They fell 8-3 to the Patrick County Cougars. Unfortunately, that's the second time they've come up short against the Cougars this season, as they also lost their prior matchup 11-1 back in March.
Radford saw six different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Olivia Radford, who went 1-for-2 with two runs. Kaydence Rollins also deserves some recognition as she hit her first double of the season.
As for Patrick County, the win was the eighth in a row for them, bringing their record up to 15-3. The victories came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 3.1 runs on average over those games.
On Patrick County's side, Jenna Woods was a major factor no matter where she played. She looked comfortable on the mound, pitching three innings while giving up no earned runs or hits. Woods was also big at the plate, going 2-for-4 with one run, one double, and one RBI.
In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Journey Moore, who went 1-for-2 with two stolen bases, one run, and one RBI. She has been hot, having posted at least one stolen base the last seven times she's played. Another player making a difference was Lauren Hazelwood, who went 1-for-3 with one stolen base, one run, and one double.
While Radford had to take the loss, they won't have to wait long to give it another shot: the pair will be back at it again later today.
