The Windthorst Trojans will take on the Tascosa Rebels in a tournament on Saturday. The teams are rolling into the game with opposing streaks: Windthorst has struggled recently with three losses in a row, while Tascosa will arrive with three straight wins.
Windthorst saw some tournament action on Friday. They fell just short of Childress by a score of 3-2.
Karissa Fillingim and Kamdyn Neal stepped up to the plate in a big way. Fillingim scored a run and stole two bases while getting on base in two of her three plate appearances, while Neal scored a run while going 2-for-3.
Meanwhile, while Tascosa put up some runs on Friday, the same can't be said for Legacy. Tascosa put the hurt on Legacy with a sharp 9-0 victory. With that win, the Rebels brought their scoring average up to 6.2 runs per game.
Zariah Delgado made a splash while hitting and pitching. On the mound, she didn't allow a single earned run over five innings pitched. What's more, she gave up only three hits, the fewest she's had over her last five matchups. She was also solid in the batter's box, going 2-for-3 with one double and one RBI.
In other batting news, Boston Galvan was incredible, scoring three runs and stealing a base while going 2-for-2. Another player making a difference was Reece Corea, who scored three runs while going 1-for-3.
Tascosa kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 12 hits. They are a perfect 3-0 when they post 11 or more hits.
Windthorst now has a losing record of 3-4. As for Tascosa, the victory got them back to even at 11-11.
Saturday's game might come down to which pitcher can control the ball better. Windthorst has hit smart this season, having averaged an OBP of .477. However, it's not like Tascosa struggles in that department as they've averaged .442. With both teams so capable at the plate, fans should be ready for an impressive hitting performance.
