Wiseburn- Da Vinci is 1-8 against Bishop Montgomery since April of 2018 but they'll have a chance to close the gap a little bit on Monday. Wiseburn- Da Vinci will welcome Bishop Montgomery at 4:00 p.m. Wiseburn- Da Vinci is strutting in with some hitting muscle as they've averaged 7.1 runs per game this season.
Wiseburn- Da Vinci came into their game on Friday off a hard-fought close win, but unfortunately suffered a serious change of fortune. They came up short against Redondo Union, falling 13-1.
Wiseburn- Da Vinci saw two different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Abigail Bazil, who went a perfect 2-for-2 with one stolen base. Another was Lelina Hoffman, who went 1-for-2 with one triple and one RBI.
Meanwhile, there's no place like home for Bishop Montgomery, who bounced back after a loss on the road on Wednesday. Everything went their way against Ramona Convent on Thursday as Bishop Montgomery made off with an 8-2 victory. Considering the Knights have won seven games by more than five runs this season, Thursday's blowout was nothing new.
Macey Kim was a major factor while hitting and pitching. She looked comfortable on the mound, striking out 14 batters over seven innings while giving up just one earned (and one unearned) run off three hits. Those 14 strikeouts gave her a new career-high. She was also solid in the batter's box, going 2-for-3 with two RBI.
In other batting news, Grace Garciaparra was incredible, scoring a run while going 2-for-3. The dominant performance also gave her a new career-high in doubles (two). Meridian Cordova was another key player, going 3-for-4 with one triple, two RBI, and one run.
Bishop Montgomery kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 13 hits. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now got at least eight hits in six consecutive contests.
Bishop Montgomery pushed their record up to 7-4 with the win, which was their eighth straight at home dating back to last season. The victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 10.4 runs over those games. As for Wiseburn- Da Vinci, their loss dropped their record down to 6-3.
Monday's matchup might come down to which pitcher can control the ball better. Wiseburn- Da Vinci has hit smart this season, having averaged an OBP of .492. However, it's not like Bishop Montgomery struggles in that department as they've averaged .457. With both teams so capable at the plate, fans should be ready for an impressive hitting performance.
Wiseburn- Da Vinci couldn't quite finish off Bishop Montgomery in their previous matchup back in April of 2024 and fell 7-5. Can Wiseburn- Da Vinci avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
