Whitney Young is on a six-game streak of home wins, while Kenwood is on a 16-game streak of away wins (dating back to last season): one of those streaks is about to end. The Whitney Young Dolphins will host the Kenwood Broncos at 6:30 p.m. on Wednesday. Both squads will be entering this one on the heels of a big victory.
Whitney Young is headed into the contest after thoroughly thrashing Jones: they outscored them in every quarter. Given that consistent dominance, it should come as no surprise that Whitney Young blew Jones out of the water with an 88-27 final score. The match was pretty much decided by the half, when the score had already reached 39-17.

Destiny Jackson continued her habit of posting crazy stat lines, going 9 for 13 en route to 23 points along with five rebounds and three steals. She is on a roll when it comes to steals, as she's now grabbed two or more in the last eight games she's played. Jordyn Ellis was another key player, going 5 of 12 on her way to 13 points and eight boards.
Whitney Young smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with 19 offensive rebounds. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now pulled down at least eight offensive boards in seven consecutive games.
Meanwhile, Kenwood got the win against Fenwick on Saturday by a conclusive 55-31. Given the Broncos' advantage in MaxPreps' Illinois basketball rankings (they are ranked seventh, while the Friars are ranked 172nd), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.
Kenwood's win came from a few key players Whitney Young will need to keep an eye on. One of the most notable was London Walker George, who went 7 for 13 en route to 17 points in addition to six steals and five rebounds. Those six steals gave her a new career-high. Another player making a difference was Danielle Brooks, who posted 11 points and three steals.
Whitney Young is on a roll lately: they've won 11 of their last 13 contests, which provided a nice bump to their 17-7 record this season. Those victories came thanks to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 64.7 points per game. As for Kenwood, their win bumped their record up to 23-2.
Some high-performance offense is likely on the agenda as Whitney Young and Kenwood are some of the highest scoring teams in the league. Whitney Young hasn't had any problem running up the score this season, having averaged 63.2 points per game. However, it's not like Kenwood struggles in that department as they've been averaging 72.4 points. With both teams so easily able to put up points, the only question left is who can run the score up higher.
Whitney Young came up short against Kenwood in their previous meeting back in February of 2024, falling 57-52. Will Whitney Young have more luck at home instead of on the road? Check back here after the action for a full breakdown and analysis of the contest.
