It was a good run, but the South Granville Vikings unfortunately witnessed the end of their seven-game winning streak on Friday. They fell to Southern Durham 79-73. Having run the score up that high, both teams probably have some extra defensive drills coming up.
South Granville's loss came despite a true team effort from the offense, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was KJ Terry, who scored 15 points along with nine rebounds and five assists. As a matter of fact, that's the most points Terry has scored all season. Another player making a difference was Oliver Roberts, who scored 21 points.
Camren Daniels continued his habit of posting crazy stat lines for Southern Durham, going 6 for 9 from beyond the arc en route to 29 points and 2 assists. Daniels is on a roll when it comes to points, as he's now scored 15 or more in the last five games he's played. Jackson Keith was another key contributor, scoring 17 points.
South Granville's defeat ended a four-game streak of wins at home and dropped them to 12-4. As for Southern Durham, they have been performing well recently as they've won three of their last four contests, which provided a nice bump to their 9-4 record this season.
South Granville will head out on the road to face off against Carrboro at 8:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Hopefully Carrboro focused on turnovers this week since the team gave up 17 on Friday. As for Southern Durham, they will look to defend their home court on Tuesday against J.F. Webb at 7:30 p.m. J.F. Webb has now lost ten straight, and the team is hunting for their first win since December 5.
