Baseball Game Preview: Mountain Range Mustangs vs. Northglenn Norse

The Mountain Range Mustangs will challenge the Northglenn Norse at 4:00 p.m. on Thursday. Mountain Range is strutting in with some hitting muscle as they've averaged 7.2 runs per game this season.

Mountain Range will roll into the matchup after a wild two-game stretch: they only put up one run on Thursday, then bounced right back against Overland on Saturday. The Mustangs put the hurt on the Blazers with a sharp 12-2 victory. The Mustangs haven't had any issues with the Blazers recently, as the game was their fifth consecutive win against them.

Cameron Williams was a major factor while hitting and pitching. He looked comfortable on the mound, striking out 11 batters over five innings while giving up just one earned (and one unearned) run off two hits. Those 11 strikeouts gave him a new career-high. He was also big at the plate, going 2-for-4 with two runs, one triple, and two RBI. Mountain Range is undefeated when Williams posts two or more runs, but 2-7 otherwise.

In other batting news, Noah Espinoza was incredible, going 3-for-4 with one home run, two runs, and two RBI. He has become a key player for Mountain Range: the team is undefeated when he posts at least three hits, but 2-7 otherwise. The team also got some help courtesy of James Watt, who went 2-for-4 with two runs, two doubles, and one RBI.

Mountain Range was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .464. They are a perfect 3-0 when they post a batting average of .375 or better.

Meanwhile, Northglenn fell victim to Brighton and their airtight pitching crew on Tuesday. They lost 12-0 to the Bulldogs. The Norse have struggled against the Bulldogs recently, as the game was their fourth consecutive lost matchup.

Northglenn's loss dropped their record down to 5-5. As for Mountain Range, their victory bumped their record up to 5-7.
