Despite a phenomenal run in the regular season, the Laguna Hills Hawks couldn't carry that success into this playoff game. They were dealt a 45-14 loss at the hands of Murrieta Mesa on Friday. Laguna Hills was in a tough position after the first half, with the score already sitting at 31-0.
Although Laguna Hills took the loss, they still got scores from John Ponce and Ryan Mckevitt.
Murrieta Mesa can attribute much of their success to C J Moran, who rushed for 95 yards and three touchdowns on only six carries. The team also got some help courtesy of Artyon Celestine, who rushed for 71 yards and a touchdown on only ten carries.
Laguna Hills' defeat dropped their record down to 9-2. As for Murrieta Mesa, their win was their third straight at home, which pushed their record up to 6-6.
Laguna Hills does not have any more games scheduled as of now. Murrieta Mesa will head out on the road to face off against La Habra at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. La Habra is coming into the matchup hot, having won their last four games.
