On Monday, Unity Christian Academy came up short against Providence Catholic and fell 64-52. While losing is never fun, Unity Christian Academy can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Illinois basketball rankings (they are ranked 506th, while Providence Catholic is ranked 209th).
Several Phoenix players turned in solid performances despite ultimately coming up short. Perhaps the best among those players was Jeremiah Johns, who scored 12 points along with six rebounds and three steals. The team also got some help courtesy of Shamar Coleman, who scored 16 points along with six rebounds and two steals.
Unity Christian Academy's defeat ended a three-game streak of wins at home and dropped them to 15-9. As for Providence Catholic, the victory was the fifth in a row for them, bringing their record for this year to 14-12.
Unity Christian Academy will be playing in front of their home fans against Steel City Academy at 6:00 p.m. on Wednesday. Providence Catholic is on the road again on Wednesday and plays Evergreen Park at 6:00 p.m. on February 14th. Evergreen Park knows how to get points on the board -- the squad has finished with flashy point totals in its past ten contests -- so hopefully Providence Catholic likes a good challenge.
