The Frontier Cougars lost against the Shadyside Tigers back in February of 2023, and unfortunately they wound up with the same result on Tuesday. Frontier's tough 57-34 loss to Shadyside might stick with them for a while. The defeat unfortunately continues a disappointing trend for Frontier in their matchups with Shadyside: they've now lost four in a row.
Frontier's loss came despite a true team effort from the offense, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Ethan Snyder, who scored 11 points along with five rebounds. Avery Powell was another key contributor, scoring nine points.
Frontier struggled to get the ball back on offense and finished the game with only two offensive rebounds. That's the fewest offensive rebounds they've managed all season.
Frontier has not been sharp recently as the team's lost three of their last four matches, which put a noticeable dent in their 7-10 record this season. As for Shadyside, the win was the third in a row for them, bringing their record for this year to 11-8.
Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Frontier won't have much time to rest: their next contest is against Paden City at 7:00 p.m. on February 7th. Hopefully Frontier focused on turnovers this week since the team gave up six on Tuesday. Shadyside will be staying on the road on Tuesday to face off against Union Local at 7:30 p.m. on February 13th. Union Local knows how to get points on the board -- the squad has finished with flashy point totals in its past eight matchups -- so hopefully Shadyside likes a good challenge.
