After having lost a blowout in their previous game against Centerville, Shepherd was happy to have turned things around on Friday. They skirted past the Alto Yellowjackets 5-4. The Pirates' hitters stepped up their game for this one, as that was the most runs they've scored all season.

Shepherd's victory bumped their record up to 2-3. As for Alto, they are on a five-game losing streak (dating back to last season) that has dropped them down to 0-2.

Shepherd has already played their next contest, an 8-1 win against Arp on the 21st. As for Alto, they also didn't take long to hit the field again: they've already played their next game, a 15-0 loss against Centerville on the 21st.
