South Allegheny suffered their closest loss yet this season on Friday. They fell just short of Quaker Valley by a score of 54-51. The loss was a bit of a surprise, as South Allegheny came into the matchup with a sizable advantage in MaxPreps' Pennsylvania basketball rankings (they are ranked 77th, while Quaker Valley is ranked 312th).
East Allegheny has traveled a rocky road recently, as they've lost six of their last seven matches, which put a noticeable dent in their 2-9 record this season. As for South Allegheny, their loss dropped their record down to 8-4.
East Allegheny was dealt a bruising 61-31 loss at the hands of South Allegheny when the teams last played back in February of 2023. Can East Allegheny avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
