If the Cheraw Braves were feeling good off their 63-34 takedown of the Chesterfield Golden Rams last Friday, their most recent game may have dampened their spirits a bit. Cheraw took a 64-54 hit to the loss column at the hands of North Central on Wednesday. The loss unfortunately continues a disappointing trend for Cheraw in their matchups with North Central: they've now lost three in a row.
Despite the loss, Cheraw saw an underclassman step up: Anthony Strong scored 15 points along with eight rebounds. That's the first time this season that Strong scored 15 or more points. Another player making a difference was Dwight Harrington, who scored ten points along with seven rebounds.
Landon Parker was his usual excellent self, scoring 21 points along with six steals for North Central. Parker continues to roll, besting his previous point total in each of the last three games he's played. Ethan Diles was another key contributor, scoring 15 points.
Cheraw has been struggling recently, as they've lost three of their last four matches, which put a noticeable dent in their 5-12 record this season. As for North Central, they now have a winning record of 6-5.
Cheraw will head out on the road to face off against Central at 7:45 p.m. on Friday. Hopefully Central focused on turnovers this week since the team gave up seven on Tuesday. As for North Central, they will be playing in front of their home fans against Lewisville at 8:00 p.m. on Friday. Lewisville will be coming into the matchup with an undefeated record on the line.
