The Callaway Cavaliers will square off against the Westside Seminoles at 5:30 p.m. on Thursday. Both teams took a loss in their last game, so they'll have plenty of motivation to get the 'W'.
Last Friday, Callaway came up short against Morgan County and fell 56-44. While losing is never fun, the Cavaliers can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Georgia basketball rankings (they are ranked 374th, while the Bulldogs are ranked 141st).

Despite their defeat, Callaway saw several players rise to the challenge and make noteworthy plays. Kaiden James, who almost dropped a double-double with 15 points and nine boards, was perhaps the best of all. That's the most points James has posted since back in December of 2024. Landon Thomas was another key player, putting up six points in addition to 16 rebounds and three blocks.
Even though they lost, Callaway smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with 15 offensive rebounds. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now pulled down at least 13 offensive boards in four consecutive contests.
Meanwhile, Westside ended up a good deal behind Morgan County on Saturday and lost 59-41. The matchup marked the Seminoles' lowest-scoring game so far this season.
Like Callaway, Westside lost despite seeing results from several players. Christian Little led the charge by going 6 for 13 on his way to 16 points. Little continues to improve, besting his previous point total in each of the last three games he's played. Another player making a difference was Joshua Harden, who had 12 points.
The loss was their first on the road , dropping their record down to 16-8. As for Callaway, their defeat dropped their record down to 7-15.
Rebounding is likely to be a big factor in this contest: Callaway has been smashing the glass this season, having averaged 33.5 boards per game. However, it's not like Westside struggles in that department as they've been averaging 32.3 rebounds. With both teams battling to corral missed shots, we'll see if one team can grab an edge.
Callaway came up short against Westside in their previous matchup two weeks ago, falling 46-38. Can Callaway avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
