2A District 8 recap October 22, 2013
Commerce added to the longest winning streak in 2A District 8 this week by beating Ketchum, 49-13. This was the team's seventh consecutive win.
Wyandotte took down Quapaw 76-0 last week, the largest margin of any game.
The Wildcats' dynamic duo of Garrett Kelly and Keith Attocknie proved tough for the Bears to stop, as they were the top passer and receiver in the league this week. Kelly threw for 22 yards and Attocknie had 14 yards receiving.
DC Chance was a beast in the backfield as Commerce beat the Warriors.
Chance provided a threat through the air and on the ground as Steve Moss' team defeated Ketchum.
Kansas's Logan Blaine and Tracy Pruitt led the league in both passing and receiving yards. 5-8 quarterback Blaine has thrown for 808 yards this season, while Pruitt has 14 catches for 367 yards. The Tigers' Chance leads the league in rushing yards with 1,499.
The top two teams in the league will face off this week when first place Commerce takes on second place Salina.
Fans will be thrilled by an exciting game in the secondary when the Comets' Pruitt goes up against Wyandotte's Ryan Garrett.
One of 2A District 8's premier quarterbacks will face off with its top pass rusher when Kansas and Brad Homer's team face off next week.
Next week's game between Eddie Barnwell's team and the Bears will feature an aerial matchup as Blaine tests his arm against Garrett's defensive ability.
Colcord made the biggest jump in the national rankings this week, rising to 7,672 from 8,599. The advance stemmed from a 27-6 victory over the Comets last week.
