The Groveton Indians's recent rough patch got a bit rougher on Tuesday after their third straight defeat. Their tough 65-42 defeat to Centerville might stick with them for a while. While losing is never fun, Groveton can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Texas basketball rankings (they are ranked 1389th, while the Tigers are ranked 647th).
It was another big night for Wade Neyland, who dropped a double-double on 21 points and 11 rebounds for Centerville. Neyland has been hot recently, having posted 15 or more points the last 21 times he's played. Trayce Schwab was another key contributor, scoring 17 points along with two steals.
Groveton's loss was their third straight on the road, which dropped their record down to 6-15. As for Centerville, they have been performing incredibly well recently as they've won seven of their last eight matchups, which provided a nice bump to their 19-6 record this season.
Both teams are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Groveton will take on the Cougars at 7:30 p.m. on Friday. Leon has been getting the ball to fall more lately as they've increased their point totals each of their last four games.
