Sartell-St. Stephen enjoyed a cozy 53-35 victory over Cambridge-Isanti on Saturday. Given Sartell-St. Stephen's advantage in MaxPreps' Minnesota basketball rankings (they are ranked 89th, while Cambridge-Isanti is ranked 292nd), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.
Sartell-St. Stephen was led to victory by Brenna Mcclure and Kaia Gack. Mcclure scored ten points along with nine rebounds and six assists, while Gack dropped a double-double on 15 points and ten rebounds. The game was Gack's seventh in a row with at least ten points. Gabi Schumann was another key contributor, scoring four points along with six rebounds.
Sartell-St. Stephen's win bumped their record up to 6-1. As for Cambridge-Isanti, they have fallen quite a ways from their 19-7 record last season and are now at 2-6.
Sartell-St. Stephen's road trip will continue as they head out to face Willmar at 7:15 p.m. on December 19th. Cambridge-Isanti will be home for the holidays to greet Monticello at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Monticello is coming into the game hot, having won their last four games.
