Hilton Head Prep had a senior duo take command as Jason Britschge dropped a double-double on 24 points and 11 rebounds and Ben Frey scored 17 points along with seven steals. As a matter of fact, that's the most points Britschge has scored all season.
Even though Oakbrook Prep has not done well against Spartanburg Christian Academy recently (they were 1-8 in their previous nine matchups), they didn't let the past get in their way on Tuesday. Oakbrook Prep blew past Spartanburg Christian Academy, posting a 69-35 victory on the road. Given Oakbrook Prep's advantage in MaxPreps' South Carolina basketball rankings (they are ranked 109th, while Spartanburg Christian Academy is ranked 291st), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.
It was another big night for Brad Caldwell, who scored 15 points along with eight rebounds and six steals. He hasn't dropped below two steals for ten straight games. The team also got some help courtesy of Chris Wilkins, who scored 14 points along with two steals.
Hilton Head Prep pushed their record up to 11-5 with that win, which was their sixth straight on the road. As for Oakbrook Prep, they have been performing well recently as they've won seven of their last nine matchups, which provided a nice bump to their 12-5 record this season.
This contest is one where the number of possessions is likely to be a big factor: Hilton Head Prep have been smashing the glass this season, having only averaged 21.2 rebounds per game. However, it's not like Oakbrook Prep struggles in that department as they've been averaging only 31.7 rebounds per game. Given these competing strengths, it'll be interesting to see how their clash plays out.
Everything came up roses for Hilton Head Prep against Oakbrook Prep when the teams last played back in January of 2023 as the team secured a 67-36 win. With Hilton Head Prep ahead 40-14 at the half, the match was all but over already.
