The Sanderson Spartans lost against the Knightdale Knights back in December of 2022, and unfortunately they wound up with the same result on Monday. Sanderson was outmatched by Knightdale at home and fell 65-24. Sanderson was in a tough position after the first half, with the score already sitting at 40-14.
Despite the loss, Sanderson still got an impressive performance from Summer Haith, who scored 13 points. Haith scored a full 54.2% of Sanderson's points, the fourth time in a row she's earned more than a third of the team's points. Another player making a difference was Amyah Lynn, who scored nine points.
Ja?Kiyah Moore continued her habit of posting crazy stat lines for Knightdale, dropping a triple-double on 17 points, ten rebounds, and ten assists. That's the first time this season that Moore posted eight or more assists. The team also got some help courtesy of Andrea Watkins, who scored 23 points.
Sanderson bumped their record down to 3-10 with that loss, which was their ninth straight at home dating back to last season. As for Knightdale, the victory was the fifth in a row for them, bringing their record for this year to 8-5.
Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Sanderson will take on Apex at 6:00 p.m. on Wednesday. As for Knightdale, they will head out on the road to face off against Wake Forest at 6:15 p.m. on Tuesday.
