The Prairie View Thunderhawks will face off against the Boulder Panthers at 6:30 p.m. on Tuesday. Keep an eye on the score for this one: the two teams posted some lofty point totals in their previous games.
Prairie View is headed into the match after thoroughly thrashing Northglenn: they outscored them in every quarter. Prairie View strolled past Northglenn with points to spare on Tuesday, taking the game 78-61.
Prairie View's win was a true team effort, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Javon Brewton, who went 9 of 13 on his way to 24 points. Chidiebere Akotaobi was another key player, dropping a double-double on 17 points and ten boards.
Prairie View was working as a unit and finished the game with 21 assists. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Northglenn only racked up 11 assists.
Meanwhile, Boulder didn't have too much trouble with Westminster on Thursday as they won 69-50. The victory made it back-to-back wins for the Panthers.
Prairie View better focus on containing Cole Morrow and Lake Smith as the pair were huge in Boulder's win. Morrow almost dropped a double-double on 31 points and nine rebounds, while Smith posted 18 points in addition to seven assists and six boards. With that strong performance, Smith is now averaging an impressive 15.1 points per game. Another player making a difference was Dominic Trudgeon, who scored eight points and 12 rebounds.
Boulder is on a roll lately: they've won three of their last four games, which provided a massive bump to their 8-7 record this season. The wins came thanks to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 69.0 points per game. As for Prairie View, the victory got them back to even at 8-8.
Some high-performance offense is likely on the agenda as Prairie View and Boulder are some of the highest scoring teams in the league. Prairie View hasn't had any problem running up the score this season, having averaged 59.1 points per game. However, it's not like Boulder struggles in that department as they've been averaging 65.5 points. With both teams so easily able to put up points, the only question left is who can run the score up higher.
Prairie View didn't have too much breathing room in their contest against Boulder in their previous meeting back in December of 2024, but they still walked away with a 72-67 win. Will Prairie View repeat their success, or does Boulder have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
