Dwight is 0-5 against Herscher since April of 2017 but things could change on Friday. The Trojans will welcome the Tigers at 4:30 p.m. Dwight will be strutting in after a win while Herscher will be coming in after a loss.
On Tuesday, Dwight needed a bit of extra time to put away Midland. They came out on top against the Timberwolves by a score of 9-6. The victory continues a trend for the Trojans in their matchups with the Timberwolves: they've now won eight in a row.
Madi Ely made a big impact while hitting and pitching. She struck out 11 batters over 7.2 innings while giving up four earned (and two unearned) runs off nine hits. Ely was also solid in the batter's box, going 2-for-4 with one run and one RBI.

In other batting news, Raegan Brown and Mikayla Ely did most of the damage at the plate: Brown went 4-for-5 with three runs, one double, and one RBI, while Mikayla went 2-for-5 with three RBI, two doubles, and one run. Those four hits gave Brown a new career-high. Another player making a difference was Mckenna Woodcock, who went 2-for-4 with one stolen base, one run, and one RBI.
Dwight kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 14 hits. They are 5-1 when they post 11 or more hits.
Meanwhile, Herscher fought the good fight in their extra-innings contest against Manteno on Tuesday but wound up with a less-than-desirable result. They fell just short of the Panthers by a score of 12-10. The Tigers haven't had much luck with the Panthers recently, as the team has come up short the last six times they've met.
RyLyn Adams was cooking despite her team's loss, going a perfect 5-for-5 with three runs, one triple, and one stolen base. She has been hot, having posted at least one stolen base the last five times she's played. The team also got some help courtesy of Addy Whitaker, who went 3-for-5 with two runs and two RBI.
Herscher's defeat dropped their record down to 14-11. As for Dwight, their win bumped their record up to 6-13.
Fans could be in store for some top-tier slugging on Friday. Dwight hasn't had any problems when it comes to power this season, having averaged 0.6 home runs per game. However, it's not like Herscher struggles in that department as they've been averaging 0.7 home runs. With so much power on both teams, it'll be down to the pitchers to keep the mound locked down.
