The Millersport Lakers are taking a road trip to square off against the Nelsonville-York Buckeyes at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday. One thing working in Millersport's favor is that they have posted at least ten runs in their last five matches.
Millersport hadn't beaten Miller on the road since May 2, 2022 but that history sure didn't bother them on Thursday. The Lakers were the clear victors by a 17-3 margin over the Falcons. The Lakers might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team has won ten contests by six runs or more this season.

Kendyl Bonkowski made a splash no matter where she played. On the mound, she struck out eight batters over five innings while giving up just two earned (and one unearned) runs off four hits. She has been consistent for a while: she hasn't tossed less than five strikeouts in 12 consecutive appearances. She was also big at the plate, going a perfect 3-for-3 with four RBI, two runs, and one double.
In other batting news, Emma Raver and Claire Haney did most of the damage at the plate: Raver went 3-for-4 with five RBI, three runs, and one double, while Haney got on base in all five of her plate appearances with four runs, one stolen base, and two RBI. Scarlet Sheets was another key player, going 2-for-4 with three runs, one stolen base, and one RBI.
Millersport always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .605. That was just more of the same: they've now posted an OBP of .600 or higher in five consecutive games.
Meanwhile, there's no place like home for Nelsonville-York, who bounced back after a loss on the road on Wednesday. They blew past Alexander 12-2 on Friday.
Like Millersport, Nelsonville-York also got a great game from a two-way player: Lilly Gura. She looked comfortable on the mound, not allowing a single earned run over five innings pitched. Gura was also stellar in the batter's box, going 2-for-3 with one home run. That home run marked the first that she has launched this season.
In other batting news, Nelsonville-York let Emmie Fowler and Hallie Koerner run wild. Fowler went 1-for-3 with two runs, one triple, and one RBI, while Koerner went 1-for-3 with one triple, two RBI, and one run. That triple was Fowler's first of the season. The team also got some help courtesy of McKinley Nungester, who went 2-for-3 with three runs.
Millersport has been performing incredibly well recently as they've won six of their last seven matchups. That's provided a nice bump to their 11-2 record this season. The victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 16.3 runs over those games. As for Nelsonville-York, their win ended a seven-game drought at home dating back to last season and bumped them up to 4-3.
Nelsonville-York's pitching crew has a crucial task ahead of them: Millersport has been making plenty of contact this season, having averaged 12.2 hits per game. It's a different story for Nelsonville-York, though, as they've been averaging 10.9 hits. Given Millersport's sizable advantage in that area, the Buckeyes will need to find a way to close that gap.
