The Rehobeth Rebels won the last time they faced the Poplar Springs Atomics, and things went their way on Saturday too. Rehobeth walked away with a 62-49 victory over Poplar Springs. Given Rehobeth's advantage in MaxPreps's basketball rankings in their respective home states (they are ranked 271st in Alabama, while Poplar Springs is ranked 671st in Florida), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.
Despite the loss, Poplar Springs still got an impressive performance from James Gilmore, who scored 14 points along with five rebounds and three steals. As a matter of fact, that's the most points Gilmore has scored all season. Another player making a difference was Baron Hall, who scored 13 points along with six rebounds.
Rehobeth is on a roll lately: they've won four of their last five contests, which provided a nice bump to their 10-11 record this season. As for Poplar Springs, they are on a five-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 3-15.
Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Rehobeth will challenge Eufaula at 7:30 p.m. on Tuesday. Eufaula knows how to get points on the board -- the squad has finished with flashy point totals in its past 18 contests -- so hopefully Rehobeth likes a good challenge. As for Poplar Springs, they will head out on the road to challenge Holmes County at 6:45 p.m. on Tuesday.
