Harper Woods had to travel to play their first game of the season, but the final result was worth the trip. They came out on top against Lakeview by a score of 49-39 on Tuesday.
Meanwhile, Oak Park was the victim of a tough 53-29 loss at the hands of River Rouge on Tuesday. Oak Park has not had much luck with River Rouge recently, as the team's come up short the last three times they've met.
Despite the defeat, Oak Park saw an underclassman step up: Madison Johnson-Williams scored 14 points. Another player making a difference was Sienna Walker, who scored 4 points along with 8 rebounds.
Harper Woods' victory bumped their record up to 1-0. As for Oak Park, their loss dropped their record down to 0-1.
