Lowell unfortunately witnessed the end of their three-game winning streak on Saturday. They took a 42-29 hit to the loss column at the hands of Chesterton. The result shouldn't come as a shock considering that's the fewest points Lowell has scored all season.
Lowell's defeat shouldn't obscure the performances of Elysia Laub, who scored five points along with 11 rebounds and three steals, and Bre Kidd who scored eight points along with three steals. Those 11 rebounds set a new season-high mark for her.
Rensselaer Central has made a habit of sweeping their opponents off the court, having now won ten contests by 20 points or more this season. They claimed a resounding 76-13 victory over South Newton at home. Rensselaer Central's offense stepped up their game for this one, as that was the most points they've scored all season.
Rensselaer Central got their win on the backs of several key players, but it was Taylor Van meter out in front who scored 16 points along with four steals. The contest was Van meter's sixth in a row with at least ten points. Another player making a difference was Courtney Mathew, who scored 15 points.
Lowell's loss dropped their record down to 9-3. As for Rensselaer Central, their victory was their sixth straight at home dating back to last season, which pushed their record up to 14-0.
Tuesday's contest is shaping up to be a masterclass in shooting: Lowell have been dynamite from deep this season, having made 37.8% of their threes per game. However, it's not like Rensselaer Central struggles in that department as they've nailed 42.2% of their threes per game this season. Given these competing strengths, it'll be interesting to see how their clash plays out.
