Basketball Recap: Dynamic Duo of Jeanahel Exilus and Esien Clarke Lead Northeast Metro RVT to Victory

Northeast Metro RVT's game on Monday was a loss, but they didn't let that memory haunt them on Tuesday. They put the hurt on the Innovation Academy The Red Tailed Hawk with a sharp 79-59 victory. For those keeping track at home, that's the biggest win the Knights have posted since February 20, 2024.

Leading Northeast Metro RVT to victory were Esien Clarke and Jeanahel Exilus. Clarke went 8 for 17 on his way to 18 points in addition to seven boards and six assists, while Exilus dropped a double-double on 16 points and 11 rebounds. Those six assists gave Clarke a new career-high. The team also got some help courtesy of Adam Mouhib, who posted eight points and three blocks.

They weren't the only one working in the assists department: Northeast Metro RVT was working as a unit and finished the game with 24 assists. That's the most assists they've managed all season.

Despite the loss, Innovation Academy still got an impressive performance from Bryce Kankam, who went 8 of 12 on his way to 18 points. Kankam is also crushing it when it comes to steals: he's grabbed at least two every time he's taken the court this season. Jordy Pe?a-Lugo was another key player, putting up seven points.

Northeast Metro RVT's victory ended a three-game drought at home and bumped them up to 1-8. As for Innovation Academy, they are on a six-game losing streak (dating back to last season) that has dropped them down to 0-5.

Northeast Metro RVT will host Minuteman Regional at 5:30 p.m. on January 14th. As for Innovation Academy, they won't have much time to rest: their next contest is against St. Bernard's Central Catholic at 6:30 p.m. on Wednesday. Innovation Academy is strutting in with some offensive muscle as they've averaged 52.6 points per game this season.
