Moody had already proven themselves in the regular season and they didn't miss a beat now that it's playoff time. Everything went their way against the Briarwood Christian Lions on Friday as they made off with a 51-27 win. The Blue Devils might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team has won nine contests by 21 points or more this season.
Le'Kamren Meadows had another great game (as he tends to do), rushing for 158 yards and three TDs while picking up 9.9 yards per carry, and also picking up 49 receiving yards. Those three rushing touchdowns gave him a new career-high. Jake Lowery was another key player, throwing for 241 yards and three touchdowns while completing 75% of his passes.
They were just one part of a punishing run game: Moody was unstoppable on the ground and finished the game with 261 rushing yards. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now rushed for at least 169 rushing yards in five consecutive games.
On the other side of the ball, a lot of the credit has to go to Moody's defense and their three sacks. The team can thank three different players for their defensive prowess: Henry Smith, Joshua Willet, and Dezron Mobley, who each picked up one sack apiece. Smith was another major factor on D, picking up a sack and making seven total tackles (3.0 for loss).
Moody's record is now 11-2. As for Briarwood Christian, their defeat dropped their record down to 7-6.
Coming up, Moody will challenge Scottsboro at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. The Wildcats will roll in looking for their fourth straight victory, something the Blue Devils surely won't give up without a fight. Briarwood Christian does not have any more games scheduled as of now.
