After flying high against Trinity Catholic last Tuesday, Hope Academy came back down to earth. The Hope Academy Trojan Tigers were just a bucket shy of victory on Thursday and fell 73-72 to the South Lake Eagles. Despite the loss, Hope Academy saw an underclassman step up: sophomore Dwayne Foreman III went 11 of 20 on his way to 34 points and three steals. The game was Foreman III's 11th in a row with at least ten points. Xavier Shine was another key player, putting up 11 points.
Isaiah Pina was his usual excellent self, dropping a double-double on 38 points and ten rebounds for South Lake. Those 38 points gave Pina a new career-high. The team also got some help courtesy of David Pina, who posted six points and ten boards.
Hope Academy's defeat ended a three-game streak of away wins and brought them to 16-6. As for South Lake, the victory made it two in a row for them and bumps their season record up to 11-7.
Hope Academy has already played their next matchup, a 73-44 loss against Pathways on the 17th. As for South Lake, they also wasted no time getting back out on the court and have already played their next contest, an 82-59 win against East Ridge on the 17th.
