Baseball Recap: Four Straight Road Victories for Norview

It may have taken nine innings to finish the job, but Norview ultimately got the result they hoped for on Friday. They were the clear victors by a 17-10 margin over the Salem Sundevils. Considering the Pilots have won three contests by more than six runs this season, Friday's blowout was nothing new.

Jamil Moreta was a major factor while hitting and pitching. On the mound, he didn't allow a single earned run while striking out ten over five innings pitched. He has been nothing but reliable: he hasn't tossed less than seven strikeouts in five consecutive appearances. He was also big at the plate, going 3-for-5 with three runs, one stolen base, and two RBI. Those three hits gave him a new career-high.

In other batting news, Malaki Littlejohn was incredible, getting on base in four of his seven plate appearances with two stolen bases, three runs, and two RBI. Norview is 3-1 when Littlejohn posts two or more runs, but 2-4 otherwise. Jay Leigh also deserves some recognition as he snagged his first stolen bases of the season.

Norview kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 13 hits. That's a new trend for them: they were averaging 4.8 hits per game earlier this season, but in their last 15 games they've averaged 9.

Norview's win was their fourth straight on the road, which pushed their record up to 5-5. The road victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 12.8 runs over those games. As for Salem, their defeat dropped their record down to 2-8.

Both teams are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Norview will welcome Booker T. Washington at 4:30 p.m. on Thursday. As for Salem, they will be playing in front of their home fans against Tallwood at 4:00 p.m. on Tuesday. The Sundevils are facing the Lions at the right time seeing as the Lions are stuck on a six-game losing streak.
