Redmond and Mercer Island are an even 3-3 against one another since October of 2016, but not for long. The Mustangs will welcome the Islanders at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. Keep an eye on the score for this one: the two teams posted some lofty point totals in their previous games.
Having struggled with four losses in a row, Redmond turned things around against Newport - Bellevue on Friday. They took down the Knights 42-23.

Multiple players turned in solid performances to lead Redmond to victory, but perhaps none more so than Tahlil Hall, who rushed for 185 yards and three scores while picking up 8.4 yards per carry, and also threw for 11 yards and one touchdown. With that strong performance, Hall is now averaging an impressive 123.5 rushing yards per game. Another pass catcher making a difference was Jay Heath, who picked up 164 receiving yards and three TDs.
They were just one part of a punishing run game: Redmond was unstoppable on the ground and finished the game with 202 rushing yards. That's the most rushing yards they've posted since back in November of 2024.

Meanwhile, Mercer Island ended up a good deal behind Inglemoor on Friday and lost 50-31. The Islanders were down 44-24 at the end of the third quarter, which was just too much to recover from.
The match pitted two dominant backs against one another in Kainoa Brown and Peyton Mrsny. Mrsny had a great game and rushed for 198 yards and four touchdowns while picking up 7.1 yards per carry. Meanwhile, Brown was balling out in the loss, rushing for 23 yards and three scores, while also picking up 149 receiving yards.
Redmond's victory was their first in the district, bumping their district record up to 1-3 and their overall record up to 2-5. As for Mercer Island, their defeat was their third straight at home, which dropped their record down to 3-4.
Redmond was dealt a bruising 56-3 loss at the hands of Mercer Island in their previous matchup back in October of 2024. That contest was all but decided by halftime, at which point the Mustangs were down 36-3.
