It can be hard to translate regular season success to the playoffs, but the Perry Panthers had no problem doing just that on Saturday. They were the clear victor by a 35-14 margin over Burke County. The result was nothing new for Perry, who have now won seven matchups by 21 points or more so far this season.
Perry can attribute much of their success to Ahmad Gordon, who rushed for 163 yards and three touchdowns. Another player making a difference was Dakarai Anderson, who gained 95 total yards and a touchdown.
When it comes to explaining why Burke County lost, one person who can't be blamed is Ronderius Gray. Despite the final result, he picked up 211 receiving yards and a touchdown.
Perry's win was their fifth straight at home, which pushed their record up to 10-2. Those victories were due in large part to their offensive dominance across that stretch, as they averaged 43.6 points per game. As for Burke County, their loss dropped their record down to 8-3.
Perry will head out on the road to face off against Bainbridge at 7:30 p.m. on Friday. Bainbridge knows how to get points on the board -- the team has finished with flashy point totals in its past eight contests -- so hopefully Perry likes a good challenge. Burke County does not have any more games scheduled as of now.
