Letcher County Central is 0-5 against Johnson Central since May of 2021 but things could change on Wednesday. The Cougars will be playing in front of their home fans against the Golden Eagles at 6:00 p.m. After the two teams made easy work of their previous opponents, one won't be so lucky on Wednesday.
Letcher County Central came out on top against Perry County Central on Tuesday thanks in part to the team's impressive five-run fifth inning. The Cougars put the hurt on the Commodores with a sharp 10-3 win. The victory made it back-to-back wins for the Cougars.

Kelsey Bentley was a major factor no matter where she played. On the mound, she struck out eight batters over 4.2 innings while giving up three earned runs off four hits (and only one walk). That's the most strikeouts she has posted since back in April of 2025. She was also big at the plate, going 2-for-4 with two stolen bases, two RBI, and one run. Those RBI were her first of the season.
In other batting news, Kaily Bentley was incredible, going 3-for-4 with three runs, two doubles, and one stolen base. Those three runs gave her a new career-high. The team also got some help courtesy of Addison Collier, who went 3-for-4 with two runs and one double.
Letcher County Central was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .444. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Perry County Central only posted a batting average of .185.
Meanwhile, Johnson Central got the win against Paintsville on Monday by a conclusive 17-2.
Johnson Central got a massive performance out of Malli Price, who went a perfect 2-for-2 with two stolen bases, two runs, and two doubles. Another player making a difference was Shelby Arnett, who went a perfect 2-for-2 with one home run, two runs, and two RBI.
The victory got Letcher County Central back to even at 2-2. As for Johnson Central, the win got them back to even at 1-1.
