Baseball Recap: Central Catholic Takes a Loss

After flying high against South Fayette last Wednesday, Central Catholic came back down to earth. The Vikings fell 6-1 to the Taylor Allderdice Dragons on Tuesday. Vikings fans who chose to attend the game sure picked the wrong one: it was the first time the team's lost against the Dragons since on Tuesday.

Josh McFadden was a force to be reckoned with on the mound despite the final result: he tossed five innings while giving up just two earned (and one unearned) runs off three hits. He has been consistent recently: he hasn't given up more than two walks in three consecutive appearances.

Central Catholic has been struggling recently as they've lost ten of their last 11 contests. That's put a noticeable dent in their 5-12 record this season. As for Taylor Allderdice, the victory was the third in a row for them, bringing their record up to 13-6.

Coming up, Central Catholic will venture away from home to square off against Montour at 7:00 p.m. on Wednesday. The Vikings' pitchers better be ready for this one: the Spartans have averaged an impressive 7 runs per game this season. As for Taylor Allderdice, they will challenge Deer Lakes at 6:00 p.m. on Friday.
