Baseball Recap: Island Coast Takes a Loss

After flying high against North Port last Friday, Island Coast came back down to earth. The Island Coast Gators fell just short of the Charlotte Fightin' Tarpons by a score of 3-2 on Tuesday. If the Gators were looking for revenge after losing 5-3 to the Fightin' Tarpons when the teams met back in March of 2024, then they'll just have to keep looking.

Island Coast saw two different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Archer Ellis, who scored a run while going 2-for-3.

Island Coast's loss dropped their record down to 10-3. As for Charlotte, their record now sits at 8-6.

Island Coast and Charlotte should be looking forward to their upcoming games as both have a sizable advantage in the MaxPreps Florida Rankings. Island Coast will challenge Golden Gate at 7:00 p.m. on Thursday up 458 places (41 vs. 499). The two teams have allowed few runs on average, (Island Coast 2.3, Charlotte 3.3) so any runs scored will be well earned. Similarly, Charlotte (ranked 145th) will meet Lakewood Ranch (ranked 354th) at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. Island Coast is strutting in with some hitting muscle as they've averaged 7.1 runs per game this season.
