The Natalia Mustangs's recent rough patch got a bit rougher on Thursday after their third straight loss. They lost to Lutheran on the road by a decisive 54-39 margin. Natalia was given a dose of their own medicine in this game as Lutheran apparently hadn't forgotten their loss the last time these teams played back in November of 2015.
Despite the loss, Natalia still got an impressive performance from Yahdi Lujan, who scored 22 points along with six steals. Lujan scored a full 56.4% of Natalia's points, the third time in a row she's earned more than a third of the team's points. The team also got some help courtesy of Anaya Jones, who scored eight points along with eight rebounds and five steals.
Natalia has not been sharp recently, as they've lost six of their last eight games, which put a noticeable dent in their 8-11 record this season. As for Lutheran, their win bumped their record up to 2-8.
Natalia and Randolph will round out the year against one another at 1:30 p.m. on Thursday at. Lutheran will be staying on the road on Thursday to face off against Navasota at 12:00 p.m. on December 28, 2023. Navasota is coming into the game hot, having won their last six games.
