Pinecrest is 8-1 against Hoke County since November of 2014, and they'll have a chance to extend that success on Friday. The Pinecrest Patriots will be playing in front of their home fans against the Hoke County Bucks at 7:30 p.m. Pinecrest will be coming into the contest with an undefeated record on the line.
Pinecrest gave up the first points last Friday, but they didn't let that get them down. They came out on top against Scotland by a score of 27-17. That's two games straight that Pinecrest has won by exactly ten points.
It was another big night for Zymire Spencer, who rushed for 104 yards and a touchdown, and also picked up 56 receiving yards. Spencer was no stranger to the big play, turning on the jets for a run that went for 64 yards.
Meanwhile, Hoke County's five-game losing streak came to an end on Friday. They walked away with a 28-21 win over Union Pines.
Multiple players turned in solid performances to lead Hoke County to victory, but perhaps none more so than Brandon Saunders, who threw for 185 yards and three touchdowns. The team also got some help courtesy of Jairo Ortiz, who rushed for 100 yards and a touchdown.
Pinecrest's win was their seventh straight on the road (dating back to last season), which bumped their overall record up to 8-0. As for Hoke County, their win on Friday bumped their record up to 3-6.
Everything went Pinecrest's way against Hoke County in their previous matchup back in October of 2022 as Pinecrest made off with a 35-12 victory. Will Pinecrest repeat their success, or does Hoke County have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
