The Hemet Bulldogs came tearing into Wednesday's match with eight straight wins (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 21.6 points) and they left with even more momentum. They took down La Quinta 78-61. Given Hemet's advantage in MaxPreps' California basketball rankings (they are ranked 178th, while La Quinta is ranked 1049th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.
Multiple players turned in solid performances to lead Hemet to victory, but perhaps none more so than Juaquin Martinez, who scored 23 points. The contest was Martinez's 14th in a row with at least ten points. The team also got some help courtesy of Quinton Skinner, who scored 19 points along with six assists and six rebounds.
Hemet's win bumped their record up to 12-2. As for La Quinta, they are on a three-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 3-7.
Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Hemet will face off against Ramona at 5:00 p.m. on Friday. Ramona is out to stop a three-game streak of losses at home. As for La Quinta, they will head out on the road to face off against Desert Christian Academy at 6:00 p.m. on Friday. Hopefully Desert Christian Academy focused on turnovers this week since the team gave up 12 on Thursday.
