Sam Walker was a major factor while hitting and pitching. On the mound, she didn't allow a single earned run while striking out ten over six innings pitched. Those ten strikeouts gave her a new career-high. She was also stellar in the batter's box, going 3-for-4 with two runs, one stolen base, and two RBI.
In other batting news, Coral Prosser was incredible, going 3-for-4 with four runs, two stolen bases, and one triple. That's the most stolen bases she has posted since back in April. Another player making a difference was Cayley Poorbaugh, who went 2-for-3 with one run.
Berlin Brothersvalley kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 15 hits. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now got at least eight hits in seven consecutive games.
Meanwhile, Claysburg-Kimmel posted their closest victory since March 24th on Wednesday. They narrowly escaped with a win as the squad sidled past Northern Bedford County 6-5.
Like Berlin Brothersvalley, Claysburg-Kimmel also got a great game from a two-way player: Isabella Paris. She looked comfortable on the mound, striking out 15 batters over seven innings while giving up four earned (and one unearned) runs off four hits. Paris was also big at the plate, going 1-for-2 with one home run and three RBI.
In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Bella Francona, who got on base in three of her four plate appearances with two stolen bases and one run. She is on a roll when it comes to stolen bases, as she's now snagged at least one in each of the last three games she's played.
Berlin Brothersvalley's victory bumped their record up to 14-1. As for Claysburg-Kimmel, their win bumped their record up to 18-0.
The batters for both teams will have to hit smart on Friday as both have some strikeout artists on the roster. Berlin Brothersvalley has been retiring batters left and right this season, having averaged 7.3 strikeouts per game. However, it's not like Claysburg-Kimmel struggles in that department as they've been averaging 7.9 strikeouts. Considering how easily both teams rack up Ks, the hitters on both teams better bring their A-game into this one. Check back here after the action for a full breakdown and analysis of the contest.
