East is on a four-game streak of home losses, and Newton Falls a five-game streak of away losses dating back to last season. However, someone's due for a change in luck on Wednesday. East will be playing at home against the Newton Falls Tigers at 5:00 p.m. East is strutting in with some hitting muscle as they've averaged 6.4 runs per game this season.
East barely beat Badger the last time the pair played, but that sure wasn't the case this time around. East was the clear victor by a 14-7 margin over Badger on Monday. The win was a breath of fresh air for East as it put an end to their four-game losing streak.
Isaiah Williams made a big impact no matter where he played. He pitched 2.2 innings while giving up no earned runs off one hit. In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Yadiel Lopez, who scored two runs and stole a base while getting on base in three of his five plate appearances. East always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .610. They are 2-1 when they post an OBP of .513 or better.
Meanwhile, Newton Falls hadn't done well against LaBrae recently (they were 2-7 in their previous nine matchups), but they didn't let the past get in their way on Monday. The Tigers won by a run and slipped past the Vikings 2-1. Give some credit to the fans of both teams: the last four times they've met, the home team has come away the winner.
Cameron Huff spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: he surrendered only one earned run on five hits and racked up 11 Ks.
On the hitting side, Trevor Ruscoe was excellent, going 2-for-3 with one home run.
East's victory bumped their record up to 3-5. As for Newton Falls, their win bumped their record up to 2-4.
East's speedy runners might be the difference in Wednesday's match. East has been swiping bases left and right this season, having averaged 5.2 stolen bases per game. It's a different story for Newton Falls, though, as they've been averaging only 0.8 stolen bases. Will they be able to secure the bases, or will East continue to outrun the ball?
East might still be hurting after the 10-0 defeat they got from Newton Falls in their previous matchup back in April of 2024. Will East have more luck at home instead of on the road? Check MaxPreps after the match for a full breakdown of the game, commentary, and other baseball content.
