The Alliance Aviators will challenge the Cuyahoga Valley Christian Academy Royals at 5:00 p.m. on Wednesday. The last five games Alliance has played have been within two runs, so don't be surprised if it's a close one.
On Tuesday, Alliance had just enough and edged out Austintown-Fitch 5-3. The Aviators haven't had any issues with the Falcons recently, as the game was their third consecutive victory against them.
Cade Blatt tossed a big game, pitching six innings while giving up just two earned (and one unearned) runs off three hits.
On the hitting side, the team relied heavily on Bo Davis, who got on base in three of his four plate appearances with two stolen bases and two runs. That's the most runs he has posted since back in April. Another player making a difference was Lincoln Reese, who got on base in three of his four plate appearances with one run and one RBI.
Meanwhile, Cuyahoga Valley Christian Academy has relied on a stalwart pitchers averaging 3.33 runs allowed per game, but that average took a hit on Tuesday. They came out on top in a nail-biter against Elyria Catholic, sneaking past 12-10. Winning may never get old, but the Royals sure are getting used to it with their fourth in a row.
Ryan Wiehe was excellent, going 2-for-5 with two RBI, one run, and one double. Jonah Gaudio was another key player, going 1-for-3 with two RBI and one run.
Alliance's win was their fourth straight on the road, which pushed their record up to 17-6-1. The road victories came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 2.5 runs on average over those games. As for Cuyahoga Valley Christian Academy, their win bumped their record up to 15-6.
Alliance skirted past Cuyahoga Valley Christian Academy 6-4 when the teams last played back in April of 2021. Will the Aviators repeat their success, or do the Royals have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
