Yorktown is a perfect 3-0 against Jay County since May of 2016 and they'll have a chance to extend that dominance on Wednesday. The Tigers will face off against the Patriots at 5:30 p.m. Each of these teams will be battling to keep a three-game winning streak alive.
Jay County's hitters are going to have their work cut out for them on Wednesday: Yorktown hadn't allowed a single run the last three times they've hit the field. The Tigers' pitcher stepped up to hand Pendleton Heights a 4-0 shutout on Thursday.

The result came thanks to Olivia Jones's shutout, as she gave up just three hits and racked up 15 Ks. She has been nothing but reliable on the mound: she hasn't tossed less than six strikeouts in 21 consecutive appearances.
On the hitting side, Kaylei Morgan was excellent, going 2-for-3 with three RBI and one double. Those three RBI gave her a new career-high.
Meanwhile, it can be hard to translate regular season success to the playoffs, but Jay County had no problem doing just that on Tuesday. They blew past the Eagles 14-3. The result was nothing new for the Patriots, who have now won 16 contests by seven runs or more so far this season.
Carley Trinidad made a splash no matter where she played. On the mound, she struck out six batters over five innings while giving up just two earned runs off four hits. Trinidad was also big at the plate, going 3-for-4 with one double.
In other batting news, Morgan Missicano was a standout: she went 2-for-5 with four RBI, one triple, and one run. Another player making a difference was Brenna Ruble, who went 2-for-4 with three runs and three RBI.
Jay County kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 17 hits. The team's really been improving in that area: they've now improved their hit total in five consecutive matchups.
Yorktown's victory bumped their record up to 23-2. As for Jay County, their win bumped their record up to 18-4.
Wednesday's game might come down to which pitcher can control the ball better. Yorktown has hit smart this season, having averaged an OBP of .477. However, it's not like Jay County struggles in that department as they've averaged .486. With both teams so capable at the plate, fans should be ready for an impressive hitting performance.
Yorktown came out on top in a nail-biter against Jay County in their previous matchup back in May of 2024, sneaking past 4-2. Will the Tigers repeat their success, or do the Patriots have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
